When it comes to looking and feeling good, what you put in your body is just as important as what you put on it. We've outlined our top steps when it comes to your skin's happiness!
Step 1- SPF
First and foremost you must use sunscreen to keep your skin’s glow and protect it from sun damage. Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or greater at least 15 minutes before sun exposure and wear protective clothing if you’re going outside.
Step 2 - Diet
Your diet also directly impacts your skin cells. Ensure that foods that are rich in omegas like avocados, nuts, flax seeds & fish are in your meal plan every week.
Step 3 - Supplements
You don’t want to run low on elements like vitamin A, which promotes healthy skin appearance and texture, or biotin, which helps support hair, skin and nails. Try a supplement that specifically targets hair, skin and nails to provide these and other nutrients.
The big one to look out for when selecting skin hair and nails supporting supplements is biotin, a member of the B vitamin family. Also known as B7, biotin is found in foods like cauliflower, bananas and salmon. Like the other B vitamins, biotin helps your body make energy by supporting your metabolism and is often found in supplements to support healthy skin hair and nails.
Secondly - collagen is the hottest topic right now. Collagen is the most abundant protein in our bodies, making up about 30% of the entire protein content of the body and about 70% of the protein content of skin. Collagen is produced within the body and after about the age of 30, the body starts to deplete collagen at a rate of approximately 1.5% every year. Also, exposure to sunlight causes both damage and loss of skin collagen. Collagen plays a vital role in giving the skin its strength, firmness, fullness, smoothness and elasticity. The natural loss of collagen that occurs with aging and sun exposure is largely responsible for skin aging and wrinkles.
Step 4 - Water
Managing your water intake is so important. Sick of hearing it yet? You need to drink 2 litres of water a day. It helps literally EVERYTHING in your body & especially your hair skin and nails. Fill your water bottle first thing in the morning & monitor throughout the day.
Step 5 - Natural Skin Care
Self care is vital. This means face and hair masks, baths, body lotion and all those steps to help you keep you feeling great. Choose products that are natural and nasty ingredient free.
