Its tough getting out of bed and back into a routine for the first few weeks of school. Rise and shine happier with our top healthy breakfasts below.

Porridge Bread Muffins:

This is one of easiest and quickest of baking recipes. All you do is mix one 500g pot of natural yoghurt with and fill that pot with oats twice. Then add 2 tea spoons of bicarbonate of soda (pro tip: dissolve in 2 teaspoons of water first). These can be even tastier if you add frozen blueberries or dried cranberries to the mix. Pour into a muffin tin and bake for 20 - 30 minutes at 200 degrees.

Granola Bars

Granola bars can be made in advance, tailored with your favourite nuts and fruits and eaten on the run if you have a late start. We love this simple, 5 ingredient recipe, no bake recipe from the minimalist baker

Porridge:

You can't go wrong with a big bowl of wholesome warming porridge to set you up for the day. Get creative with your toppings and include chia seeds, berries, superfood mixes, peanut butter or jam!

Cereals:

Traditional cereals are full of sugar. Ensure you grab a wholegrain and organic one if possible and top with some fresh fruit, goji berries and rice or almond milk.

Smoothie Bowls:

These started to take over this summer. They are really tasty and refreshing. We tried one in Ethos Dublin and it had toasted quinoa granola, passionfruit, coconut chunks, cacao nibs and bee pollen. Delicious!

Chia Pudding:

This is a great one as it can be prepared the night before. It is really simple to make and bursting with omega 3. All you do is put one part chia seeds, two parts water/milk alternative. Some people like to add a few spoons of their favourite yoghurt. It is extra delicious when you add some fruit puree.

Toasties:

We love a good open top toastie. Try grilling some rye bread and top with any nut butter and banana or jam with berries on top! Quick and filling.
